Kathy was a girl who lived in an attic. She was all alone there, day after day. She didn't even know why she didn't leave there. Guess the attic was just too safe and the world outside too scary. Kathy didn't remember seeing another person ever. She didn't remember how she'd gotten to the attic, either. Actually, the only thing she remembered was the days spent at the attic. It was quite lonely and sometimes Kathy cried, but she was never sad for long.
But one day, when she was singing to herself, she heard a sudden click and saw light coming from behind her. She looked over her shoulder and there he was, a boy with a camera, taking pictures with a polaroid camera. Kathy's heart skipped a beat, and she walked to the boy.
But when she tried to ask the boy's name, no voice came from her throat. And when she tried to touch the boy's arm, her hand went right through it. And the boy didn't seem to notice a thing. But when she looked at the picture the camera had give, she saw herself, for the first time, with her blond long curls and blue, sincere eyes.
Suddenly the boy started talking. He asked who the girl in the picture was. Kathy tried to shout her name, but couldn't. Something was stopping her. The boy shrugged and went away. But the next day he came back. And this time he talked longer, and took some photos from the room to see Kathy again. She was so happy she smiled for the first time ever!
Finally she had found another one like her. Well not exactly, the boy wasn't as pale and had shorter hair, but he was close enough to her.
The same pattern continued for some weeks. But then one day the boy didn't come. Kathy shed her first tears after seeing the boy for the first time, and wondered what had happened. She was restless and couldn't even sing like she used to. This was all new to her. What was that feeling inside her that ate her heart like a beast? What was this feeling that made it feel like she'd died if she didn't see the boy again. But she decided to wait a little longer. Just for a little longer.
But when the boy didn't come the next day either, she got really sad and cried a lot that night. The next day she gathered up her courage and decided to go looking for the boy. She went to the attic door, opened it and stepped to the stairs behind it. This was a start of a new adventure and her heart was beating like crazy, but she didn't care.
She walked around the empty halls, they looked like from a school. There was no one around. Then she turned around a corner, and finally, saw him. Kathy's heart started beating faster and faster. She started running onwards, but then suddenly jerked to a stop when she saw a girl next to the boy. This girl had goldbrown curls, and her green eyes were so deep. She looked like the perfect human beign, and Kathy started to back down, not knowing what to do.
The girl wrapped her arms around the boys right arm and gave him a little peck on the cheek. Kathy screamed. She had never screamed before. The voice was high but like a key, not annoying or squeky at all. But this time the boy heard her, and looked at the hall. When he saw nothing, he took his camera and took a quick pic. On the picture there was a blond girl, in a white one piece dress, crying her heart out.
The boy's heart skipped a beat and he yelled a name. Kathy's heart stopped. It was her name. The boy shaked the girl off of his arm and ran to Kathy. He explained that he hadn't had time to visit because of problems at school and home, so much work, but he promised to come see her whenever he could, if she only stopped crying. Kathy smiled and nodded while the boy took another picture.
And from that day on, their love bloomed beautifully, even though they couldn't even touch each other, and Kathy could be seen only through camera, but the boy took a lot of pictures and told her stories, and she sang to him in exchange.
Happy endings are the best, don't you think? ; )
